Best Lightweight
Single StrollerTravel strollers aren't much smaller or lighter than this one. Its sleek design allows it to fold into a chic rectangle shape, and the wheels are a lot easier to turn than other styles.
It also has an under-seat storage area and an adjustable shoulder strap that makes it easy to carry around when you're not pushing it. But the canopy adjustment can cause a lot of noise, which might disturb a sleeping toddler.
1. Contours Itsy
The Contours Itsy is a compact stroller that has a variety of features for its size. The basket in the back of the seat features a spring-loaded mechanism, allowing you to push the basket down to place a backpack or diaper bag and then it will pop up to secure the contents. It also has an accessory tray for children and an adjustable backrest pad for the seat, which are more options than you normally see on a stroller with a light weight.
Additionally, it comes with a great canopy that can open and close to give you the sun-protection you need, and the handlebar is height-adjustable in four positions to ensure a good fit. However, we weren't impressed by the quality of its ride on rough surfaces. We were of the opinion that the suspension and wheels did not do a good job of absorbing shocks and bumps.
The stroller is ideal for traveling because it is fully assembled in the box. It only takes just a few steps to make it ready for use. The seat can be pushed forward and backwards to adjust the recline, which is pretty much flat. Two buttons on the frame make it easy to fold and unfold. It can be tucked away in a very convenient carrying bag when not in use. In fact, it's one of the smallest strollers we test, and it can meet the requirements of many airlines for gate-checking and cabin storage on airplanes. 2. Kolcraft Cloud Plus
This stroller is an excellent option for those looking for a lightweight travel stroller. It comes with all the features parents would want in a stroller, such as all-terrain wheels and front suspension for an easy ride. It's also extremely light, weighing less than 12 pounds. It has a simple fold that is self-standing and one-hand. It has two cups holders on each tray to accommodate the child and parent.
The quality, however it is a bit on the low side and it didn't fare well in our maneuverability tests. It has a flexible frame, which makes pushing it over rough surfaces feel like lifting weights. It might be okay if you only use the stroller on paved sidewalks. However, for the majority of people, it's not ideal.
The Cloud Plus features a three-tiered extended canopy that has a peek-aboo window to provide additional sun protection. The multi-position seat can be used by children up to 50 pounds. It also has a five-point safety restraint. This is a great choice for older toddlers who have outgrown their car seats for infants.
It's small and folds in one step. It can be collapsed by pressing a button. It also comes with an easy, foot-activated break that's easy to install and release.
However, the handle is lower than many of the other strollers we looked at and some parents may be uncomfortable for long periods of time. It does have a handle lock to keep it in place while open, though. This is an excellent feature to use the stroller on uneven or rough terrain.
3. Munchkin Sparrow
The Munchkin Sparrow is the ultimate travel stroller for parents on the move. This compact stroller is easy to fold up and down and easily fits in overhead compartments on planes as well as in trunks at amusement parks (no more worrying about parking charges). It comes with a carrying bag that zips up for convenient storage. It can be used right from birth using the infant car seat adapter, and provides plenty of sun protection with its canopy (though not as much as the Nuna TRVL or Uppababy Minu V2). The only issue for parents who have children is that they find the look
cheap single buggy and utilitarian.
The BabyZen Yoyo+ is a little more expensive than other lightweight single strollers however it was made specifically for luxurious urban and travel. It's one of the easiest strollers to fold and comes with a handy carry case. It is packed with storage space, including a cupholder. The seat reclines almost flat for both the child and adult. This is the only stroller on our list that has an adapter for car seats that can allow it to be used with babies. Some short parents may not like the handlebar, which does not adjust.
The UPPAbaby Minu V2 may not be the lightest stroller, however it has a lot of amazing features that make traveling with children easier. Its spacious seat reclines to a flat position, and has extra padding so that those naps on the plane last longer. The canopy that can be extended has plenty of sun coverage, and the parent tray provides plenty of storage. It also features an adjustable footrest that can double as a handle when it's folded. The footrest is susceptible to damage by baggage handlers.
4. Uppababy Minu V2
Uppababy Minu V2 is a stylish stroller with a top-quality design and high-end. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver narrow sidewalks and tight spaces, however its sturdy construction means it can take on rough terrain without compromising the comfort of your child. Front and rear spring-action suspensions create a noticeably more comfortable ride for both of you, while its sturdy materials ensure it will hold up to everyday wear and tear without losing its shape. It can also be expanded to accommodate other accessories such as a bassinet and infant car seat.
In our testing, the Minu was a breeze to maneuver and fold even with a child in its hand. Its squat almost square fold which unfolds into thirds, is among the easiest in our tests and allows it to easily fit into overhead compartments on planes and public transport. It has a
single seat stroller-action, color-coded brake that is easy to use.
The seat reclines in various positions and the leg rest can be adjusted with one hand, making it simple to find your child's ideal position. The UPF 50+ hood slid down quite a ways and was perfect for protecting Cora's eyes from the sun (though not quite as low as other strollers). The medium-sized mesh peekaboo window is attached magnetically to the canopy and shuts without the need for noisy Velcro.
At less than 15 pounds at just under 15 pounds, the Minu is a breeze to carry thanks to its built-in handle and shoulder strap. It can be put in the trunk of your vehicle, and comes with a storage box and Uppababy TravelSafe, which extends the warranty of the manufacturer by two years and provides replacements if items are damaged during travel.
5. Joovy Aire
Joovy, an established stroller brand, produces several models. This lightweight model is a good option for parents who are looking for an all-purpose stroller that can carry children around, has plenty of storage, is easy to move around and doesn't require an engineering degree to fold. It's not the best choice for those who want a car seat-compatible model, or a double stroller, though. It doesn't accept any infant car seats, and your infants must be able to sit up on their own before you can use this stroller from the beginning.
This stroller is packed with features and is offered at a price that is very reasonable. It scored higher in our maneuverability test than other models with similar specifications. It's also a great option for smooth surfaces. It has a large parent tray, a canopy and plenty of storage. The front wheel suspension is stiff, and the handlebar is smaller than average, but it still provides a comfortable ride for adults.
If you have twins, or two children who are different ages you may consider a side-by-side stroller to be the best choice to transport them. Our favorite is the Joovy Twin Groove, which comes with a wide range of features and a small footprint that can be used into places that other side-byside options can't.
It has a huge canopy, with a peek-aboo window, and tons of storage. It's heavier than some other side-by-sides however it has a good weight capacity and can be used by children weighing up to 50lbs. It's possible to add a bassinet to front of the stroller to accommodate infants.
If you want an even more luxurious version of this stroller, the Caboose RS Sit and Stand Stroller is an excellent alternative. It has the same great features and can be fitted out with a bassinet so you can take your baby home with style from the hospital.
