Erin Bugg, a customer advisor unblocked at the school at the National Australia Bank branch in Rosny, Hobart, was asked by the husband and wife to have their account unblocked at the school so they could send money to an 'online investment firm'. The couple were attempting to have the first of two instalments - $40,000 - sent to the fake firm in Perth. The scammers promised a 12 per cent return on their term deposit and unblocked games a guaranteed payout if the firm was to go bust, both of which sent Ms Bugg into high alert.

'If there was a scam red flags bingo card, 'online investment opportunity' would be top of the list,' Ms Bugg revealed in a statement by the bank. 'Immediately, alarm bells went off for me. It sounded like an investment scam and I was concerned this couple could lose their life savings.' NAB bank teller, Erin Bugg (pictured), saved a couple from losing $40,000 to a 'too good to be true' investment scam
